Get Honda Vezel Clutch Release Bearing 22000-5P8-026 in Kenya

The Clutch Release Bearing (Part No. 22000-5P8-026) is a precision-engineered component of the manual transmission clutch system, designed to facilitate smooth, efficient engagement and disengagement of the clutch mechanism. Also known as a throw-out bearing, this part plays a crucial role in disconnecting the engine from the transmission during gear changes by transferring the force from the clutch pedal to the rotating clutch assembly.

Built with high-grade materials and designed for extended operational life, the 22000-5P8-026 release bearing is a direct-fit replacement component that meets or exceeds OEM standards. It is engineered to provide quiet operation, low friction, and consistent performance across a wide range of temperatures and driving conditions.

Function and Role in the Clutch System

The clutch release bearing enables the driver to momentarily disengage the clutch disc from the flywheel, interrupting the transmission of power from the engine to the drivetrain. This allows for smooth gear shifting, idling without stalling, and controlled take-off.

Operating Process:

1. When the clutch pedal is pressed, hydraulic or cable actuation moves the clutch fork or slave cylinder.

2. This pushes the clutch release bearing toward the diaphragm spring (or release fingers) of the pressure plate.

3. The bearing applies axial force to the spring, causing it to retract and relieve clamping force from the clutch disc.

4. The clutch disc is then released from the flywheel, interrupting torque transfer.

5. Once the pedal is released, the bearing retracts, and the pressure plate resumes its hold on the disc, re-engaging the engine and transmission.

The release bearing must maintain precise alignment and operate with minimal resistance, while withstanding high rotational speeds and frequent axial loads.

Design and Construction

The 22000-5P8-026 Clutch Release Bearing is constructed to handle both dynamic and static forces involved in clutch operation. Its robust build and compact design make it suitable for a variety of demanding driving environments.

Key Components:

• Outer Race / Collar:
Designed to contact the diaphragm spring fingers, this surface is precision-machined and hardened for durability.

• Inner Race:
Mounted to the bearing hub and typically connected to the clutch fork or slave cylinder mechanism.

• Rolling Elements (Ball Bearings):
Enable smooth rotation and reduce friction between the rotating clutch assembly and the stationary actuation mechanism.

• Bearing Cage / Retainer:
Maintains the alignment and spacing of rolling elements for consistent movement.

• Sealing Shield / Dust Cap:
Prevents ingress of dust, debris, and moisture while retaining lubrication.

• Lubricant (Grease):
Pre-lubricated with high-temperature-resistant grease to ensure long service life without maintenance.

All materials are selected for strength, temperature resistance, and compatibility with high-speed rotation and axial loading conditions.

Enhances response and reduces rotating mass within the transmission assembly.

These attributes ensure reliable operation and extended lifespan, even in stop-and-go driving or demanding terrain.

Signs of Wear or Failure

Over time, clutch release bearings can wear out due to repeated use, improper clutch operation, or lack of maintenance in surrounding components. Warning signs of a failing bearing include:

• Whining, grinding, or rumbling noises when the clutch pedal is depressed

• Increased resistance or stiffness when pressing the clutch pedal

• Shuddering or vibration during gear changes or engagement

• Difficulty shifting gears or inconsistent clutch performance

• Burning smell due to heat build-up from excessive friction or bearing drag

If any of these symptoms are present, immediate inspection and replacement of the clutch release bearing is advised to prevent damage to the clutch disc, pressure plate, or transmission input shaft.

Installation Overview

Proper installation of the clutch release bearing is critical for performance and longevity. Though procedures vary by vehicle and clutch system design, a general installation guide includes:

1. Transmission Removal:
Disconnect the transmission from the engine to access the clutch assembly.

2. Clutch Fork or Slave Cylinder Inspection:
Ensure the actuating mechanism is clean, functional, and not worn or bent.

3. Old Bearing Removal:
Slide or unclip the old release bearing from the input shaft or clutch fork.

4. Clean Mounting Surfaces:
Remove any debris or wear particles from the bearing guide or collar.

5. Install New Bearing (22000-5P8-026):
Position according to manufacturer alignment; ensure smooth sliding motion.

6. Lubricate (if applicable):
Apply high-temp grease sparingly on the collar or guide surfacenot on the bearing face.

7. Reassemble Transmission:
Carefully reinstall the transmission and clutch components, ensuring proper alignment.

8. Test Operation:
Press the clutch pedal multiple times to confirm smooth, silent engagement.

Improper alignment or forcing the bearing during installation can lead to premature wear, noise, or even clutch failure.

Maintenance Tips

Although the clutch release bearing is sealed and does not require periodic maintenance, some practices help extend its service life:

• Avoid resting your foot on the clutch pedal while driving (riding the clutch).

• Ensure proper clutch cable or hydraulic system adjustment to prevent overloading the bearing.

• Replace the bearing whenever replacing the clutch disc or pressure plate, even if it appears undamaged.

• Check the input shaft collar and fork pivot points for wear or corrosion during clutch service.

These habits minimize friction, misalignment, and heat build-up that can compromise bearing performance.
